LONDON, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Police confirmed on Saturday that 58 people who were in the Grenfell Tower on the night of the fire are missing and presumed to be dead.
The number may increase, and by far 16 people have been recovered to the mortuary, according to the police. There was a pause in the search to protect staff safety.
Grenfell Tower, a residential building in west London, was engulfed by a deadly massive fire, leaving many missing and homeless.
Meanwhile, residents and volunteers have held a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
