TRIPOLI, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan judicial authorities have clarified the circumstances of the arrest of Dutch activist Yvonne Snitjer in Tripoli, whose release was announced by the Dutch Foreign Ministry earlier on Wednesday.

"The Dutch citizen was arrested by the Special Deterrence Force in Tripoli for filming in the places of clashes that took place in the capital earlier without a prior permit," the head of the investigations department of the Libyan Attorney General's Office told Xinhua.

"She was also arrested on the grounds that she received more than one visa to enter Libya. She once entered as a member of MSF, once as a journalist, and again as a businesswoman in a clothing company. This is contrary to the rules of entry and exit of the country," the official added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Dutch Foreign Ministry announced the release and deporting of Ivon Snetger, who disappeared about a month ago in the Libyan capital of Tripoli in unknown circumstances.

The investigation official also said the Libyan Attorney General's Office addressed the Director General of the Passports Authority to deport Snitjer without the possibility of return. "All of this was done in agreement with the Dutch embassy in Libya."

NL Times reported the disappearance of Snitjer in the capital Tripoli, noting that she was last seen at 10 pm on Friday at Cafe de Rome in the Old City of Tripoli a day before the month of Ramadan.

Local media said Snitjer founded the Yorukia Foundation, an independent educational center in the capital Tripoli.
