COLOMBO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka will have high-level talks with Bangladesh in Dhaka next month for the expansion of trade and investments, the Industry and Commerce Ministry here said on Thursday.
The two sides have found that though the volume of bilateral trade has increased, there is potential for further expansion.
"Bilateral trade between the two countries tripled since 2010 but there are unexplored potentials," Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen said when meeting High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka Riaz Hamidullah.
"The two-way trade between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has shown a strong growth trend," the minister said.
According to the Department of Commerce, total trade between the two countries increased to 142 million U.S. dollars in 2016. The balance of trade between two countries has always been in favor of Sri Lanka.
