RIYADH, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Saudi interior ministry announced on Thursday that a soldier was injured in a shooting by anonymous in the eastern disturbed region Qatif, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The ministry spokesperson said that the incident took place at 11:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday (2015 GMT) after the victim stepped out of a security patrol.
The soldier was transferred to hospital, while the ministry launched an investigation into the case and described his condition as stable.
Attacking police and military personnel is common in the region by violent youths who are members of minority Shiite community in the Sunni conservative state.
