TEHRAN, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Iran's intelligence minister on Wednesday blamed Saudi Arabia of sponsoring terrorism in the region, official IRNA news agency reported.

Mahmoud Alavi said that "Saudi Arabia is the sponsor of terrorist teams and we possess intelligence that many people from the neighboring countries serve as the mercenaries (of Saudi) to do suicide attacks in Iran."

He referred to a statement of the Intelligence Ministry earlier on the day, saying that the terrorist group, which was smashed in Chabahar on Wednesday, sought to attack on a military base.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced Wednesday that it has identified and busted a "terrorist" group in the southeast of country.

In the clashes erupted in Chabahar city, the Iranian security forces killed two of the armed men and arrested five others.

In the operations, one of the Iranian security forces was killed and the other was injured.

From the militants some ammunitions and explosive belts were seized.

Alavi said that two of the arrested militants in Chabahar operation were the nationals of a neighboring country. The Iranian minister did not specify.

On Wednesday, another terrorist team in Iran's western Kurdistan province was dismantled, Alavai announced without expansion on the news.

He also said that Iran has detained a Tunisian national in relation to terrorist activities in Iran.
