NATO's Multinational Corps Northeast certified as High-Readiness Force Headquarters

WARSAW, June 14 (Xinhua) -- NATO's Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC-NE) has completed its participation in "Saber Strike 2017" exercise and was certified as High-Readiness Force Headquarters on Wednesday, in Szczecin, northwest Poland.

With this step, the Corps has ultimately assumed the overall responsibility for conducting ground operations in NATO's eastern part.

According to the MNC-NE official website, "Saber Strike 2017" has been a crucial exercise for the Corps to transform into a fully capable High-Readiness Force Headquarters and take the lead in combat operations across the northeastern flank of NATO as a Land Component Command.

MNC-NE Commander, Lieutenant General Manfred Hofmann, emphasized that it was an important contribution to increasing the security level of this region.

"Saber Strike" is a multinational combined forces exercise which helps to facilitate cooperation among NATO allies and partner nation focusing on promoting interoperability, and improving joint operational capability. It took place in multiple locations throughout Poland and Baltic countries from May 28 to June 24.
