GHAZNI, Afghanistan, June 14 (Xinhua) -- One civilian was killed and three people wounded in a bomb attack in Afghanistan's eastern province of Ghazni on Wednesday, a local police official said.
"An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detonated when a police patrol was passing a road in Plan-e-Charum locality of provincial capital Ghazni city Wednesday morning. The explosion killed one civilian passerby and injured three others," provincial police spokesman Fahim Amarkhil told Xinhua.
The injured included two civilians and a police officer, he said.
The police spokesman blamed the Taliban militant group for the attack, adding that the Taliban uses IEDs to target security forces but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.
About 715 civilians were killed and over 1,460 others injured in conflict-related incidents across Afghanistan in the first three months of the year, according to figures released by the UN mission in the country.
Out of the casualties, 86 civilians were killed and 132 others wounded in IED attacks.
