KIEV, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Researchers at Ukraine's Paton Institute of Electric Welding highly value the cooperation with Chinese institutes and enterprises, a senior official of the institute said here on Tuesday.

In an interview with Xinhua, Igor Kryvtsun, the deputy director of the institute, said they attach a great importance to the cooperation with the People's Republic of China in the area of welding.

The Paton Institute of Electric Welding actively cooperates with Harbin Welding Institute, Kryvtsun said, adding that it also has implemented many joint projects with Chinese enterprises.

"These projects concern shipbuilding industry, including the works related to underwater welding. There is also cooperation with enterprises working in transport machine building, pipeline transport, and railway transport," Kryvtsun said.

The collaboration in aviation and space industry also plays a major role in bilateral cooperation, he added.

Founded in 1934, the Kiev-based Paton Institute of Electric Welding, under Ukraine's National Academy of Science, is a leading institution in the country dealing with electric welding.

The Institute is widely known for its innovative inventions, in particular the technology for high-frequency welding of living tissue using electricity.
