NAIROBI, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Olympic javelin silver medalist Julius Yego and World 5,000m silver medalist Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku of Kenya will lead a galaxy of Kenyan stars at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Turkey on Tuesday night.

Yego will be making his third appearance this season as he seeks to shake off the rust from his nine months' rehabilitation following the injury of his knee at the Rio Olympics.

However, it will be the first show for Ndiku, who is preparing for another battle with Britain's Mo Farah for the honours in the 12 lap race at the London World Championships in August.

Speaking prior to the event, Yego said he still believes his performance has been greatly affected by the injury, which limited him to three throws in Rio, then earning him a silver medal.

"I'm improving by event and the target is to peak at the World Championships where I intend to defend my title. There is no easy competition and even as I head to Turkey, I expect a strong challenge," he said.

In Rome, Yego was seventh throwing just 82.92m, a season best and an improvement from Doha Diamond League, where he opened the season in May with a throw of 81.94m.

The Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku will debut in the IAAF World Challenge and organizers are hopeful of fast times and better performances.

Olympic javelin champion Thomas Rohler will return to Turku twelve months after surpassing the 90m line for the first time with 91.28m where he will face in-form teammates Andreas Hofmann and Johannes Vetter and world champion Julius Yego from Kenya.

The women's javelin also features a strong line-up including European champion Tatsiana Khaladovich from Belarus, world champion Katharina Molitor from Germany and multi-medallist Sunette Viljoen.

Fresh from setting a world-lead over 1,500m in Hengelo, Bahrain's Sadik Mikhou will face Caleb Ndiku over 3,000m, Antonio Alkana will look to extend his win streak in the 110m hurdles while Alina Talay is the favourite in the 100m hurdles.
