MOSCOW, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Russia's five-kilometer running race named Color Run was held here on Sunday, attracting more than 7,000 participants in total, Russian media reported.

During the race, part of the Moscow Marathon's rehearsals, the runners were powdered in different colors at every one-kilometer passage and were greeted with fireworks at the finishing line.

Growing numbers of participants were registered over the years, as more and more people were becoming true enthusiasts of the sport and running professionally, Director of the Moscow Marathon, Dmitry Tarasov, was quoted by Russia's Tass news agency.

The Moscow Marathon is planning more events next year in a bid to achieve the target of registering 40,000 people in the running race of 42 km and 195m in a few years, Tarasov added.

This year's Moscow Marathon is sheduled for Sept. 24.
