MELBOURNE, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has escaped serious injury after being taken to hospital during Brazil's 1-0 loss to Argentina in their international friendly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Jesus was carried off the pitch on a stretcher after being accidentally struck in the head by the elbow of his Manchester City teammate Nicolas Otamendi.

"Gabriel is ok," Brazil's assistant coach Edu Gaspar told reporters.

"I spoke to the doctors and they said he is fine. He had exams to see if there was a fracture, but fortunately he is ok."

Brazil coach Tite also allayed fears Jesus could have suffered concussion, though the 20-year-old is in doubt for the team' s next match against Australia at the same venue on Tuesday.

"At first glance it doesn't seem to be anything serious," Tite said.
