BUJUMBURA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 91 Burundian nationals were expelled by Rwandan authorities on Thursday and were welcomed at Gasenyi on the Rwanda-Burundi border post, said a Burundian official on Friday.

"91 Burundian nationals were yesterday (Thursday) expelled by Rwandan authorities, accusing them of living 'illegally' on the Rwandan territory," Kirundo Governor of Burundi Melchior Nankwahomba said.

"They were told to go to refugee camps in Rwanda or go back home and they chose to come back home," said Nankwahomba.

Over 4,000 Burundian nationals were expelled last year whereas over 180 were last month expelled from the Rwandan territory, according to Nankwahomba.
