LONDON, June 9 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.04 percent, or 77.35 points, to close at 7,527.33 points.
Smurfit Kappa Group, a Europe's leading corrugated packaging company, soared 5.03 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Fresnillo and Antofagasta increased by 3.60 percent and 3.51 percent, respectively.
The British housebuilding companies Taylor Wimpey was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.27 percent.
The British multinational corporation Babcock International Group dropped 2.92 percent. Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a British banking and insurance holding company, fell 2.45 percent. Enditem
