ISTANBUL, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev died of a heart attack on Friday in Istanbul at the age of 69, local media reported.
The minister was transferred to a hospital in the city on Thursday over heart problems, the Haberturk daily said.
Aliyev headed Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR between 1993 and 2005 and was appointed as minister of industry and energy in 2005. He assumed his current post in 2013, press reports said.
