MANAMA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain's Information Affairs Ministry on Thursday warned media outlets not to publish or circulate anything that contradicts the kingdom's stance towards Qatari policies.
The Ministry said the decision was taken so that it does not affect "Bahrain's highest interest intended by the measures and the political decisions taken by Bahrain and Gulf, Arab and other countries vis-a-vis Qatar."
The ministry warned of legal action against anyone for violating the law by publishing statements that question the decision taken by Bahrain and other Gulf countries to cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday.
"Legal action will be taken against anyone who contributes to publishing such material and will be held responsible before the law," the ministry added.
Bahrain's King Hamad visited Riyadh on Wednesday and held talks with King Salman, and asserted collective steps taken by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt.
Bahrain earlier this week revoked the license of Qatar Airways and shut down its offices in Manama.
