COPENHAGEN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Scandlines ferry services resumed operation on Wednesday after police cleared possible threats that halted the service from Denmark to Germany and Sweden briefly.

All three shipping routes of Scandlines that link Denmark with Germany and Sweden were suspended after the company's service center received a telephone threat, according to Danish news agency Ritzau.

South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police said they had examined the first ferries and on that basis decided to give the green light to resume the ferry service.

"It all took place very quietly and without drama. People have been patient and taken the whole situation nicely," police inspector Kim Kliver said in a press release, noting that traffic in Denmark's Roedby and Gedser areas were affected.

The police will still be present and conduct further investigations in the areas and at the ships, according to the police.

Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Scandlines is a ferry operator owned by the private equity investor 3i Group. With its 12 ferries, Scandlines transported 15 million passengers, 3.2 million cars, 1 million freight units and 64,000 busses on the routes of Puttgarden-Roedby, Rostock-Gedser and Elsinore-Helsingborg in 2016.
