BERLIN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund have signed head coach Peter Bosz from Ajax Amsterdam, the eight-time German champions confirmed in an official statement on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old coach, who will succeed former coach Thomas Tuchel on July 1, has put pen to paper on two-year deal, which will keep him at Dortmund until summer 2019.

"I am proud that I can work for such a great club. I want to be successful and play attractive soccer," Peter Bosz said during his official presentation.

Bosz is well known for his ability to introduce young players into the team. During his last spell at Amsterdam, Bosz was able to reach UEFA Europa League final with a young team.

"Peter has shown that he likes to work with young talent and that he is not afraid to field them in important games. That is fully in line with our strategy," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said.

The coaching abilities of Dortmund' s new arrival are inspired by the Dutch legend Johan Cryuff, who preferred a fast paced and aggressive pressing style of play in a 4-3-3 system.

Bosz took the helm at Ajax Amsterdam on May 2016 to lead a young team on the second place of the standings and into the UEFA Europa League final, which they lost 2-0 to Manchester City.

With the "BVB", Bosz will partake in the UEFA Champions League and challenge German record champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Enditem
