Nepali Congress president elected as 40th prime minister of Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 6 (Xinhua) -- President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba was elected as the 40th prime minister of Nepal on Tuesday.

Deuba was elected as the head of the government of Nepal through parliament voting.

"I announce that respected member Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected to the post of Nepal's prime minister," House Speaker Onsari Gharti told the Parliament to loud cheers.
