BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhuanet) -- There are a lot of possibilities for cooperation on water management, agriculture and many other sectors between China and the Netherlands under the Belt and Road Initiative, Dutch Consul General in Chongqing Koen Sizoo said.

Koen Sizoo said this during an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet on the sidelines of the 2017 Silk Road International Exposition, in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Saturday.

Water management is one area that China and the Netherlands have been working on quite a lot, according to Koen Sizoo, as the Netherlands has much experience in managing water both on the coast and inland.

He also highlighted agriculture, in which China and the Netherlands would have more engagements.

In addition, high-tech, energy, horticulture and logistics are also prominent areas that would bring good opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, he added.

Koen Sizoo dwelled on opportunities for cooperation between the Netherlands and northwest China, noting that the Belt and Road Initiative brings new opportunities and easier platform.

Xi’an has shown big potential for investments, he said, adding that three Chinese companies from Xi’an are setting up establishments in the Netherlands.

The Silk Road International Exposition is the right moment for the potential to be realized as Xi’an is at a very optimistic moment in its economic development, Koen Sizoo believed.

The exposition from Saturday to Wednesday aims to push forward the economic and trade cooperation of countries along the Belt and Road.
