SINGAPORE, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Friday that China's peaceful development benefits all countries not only in economy but also in security.

Ng Eng Hen made the remarks during a meeting here with Vice President of the Academy of Military Science of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) He Lei.

The Singaporean defense minister expressed his welcome for He Lei who leads a PLA delegation to the 16th Shangri-La Dialogue, noting that China plays an important role in the Asia-Pacific region.

He Lei, for his part, said that the China-Singapore relations have enjoyed fast development with a sound momentum since the two countries established diplomatic relations 27 years ago, especially since 2015 when the bilateral ties were upgraded to the all-round cooperative partnership progressing with the times.

He Lei said China holds a positive attitude toward the development of the relationship between the two militaries and stands ready to work with the Singaporean side for the further development of such ties.
