NANJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Three people died and 11 were injured in a gas explosion in a restaurant in east China's Jiangsu Province Thursday morning, police said.
The accident occurred in Huaian city around 9:30 a.m., the city' police said in a statement.
An initial investigation suggested a gas tank exploded in the restaurant located in Qingjiangpu district.
Rescuers pulled 14 people from the rubble, but three later died. The 11 survivors are still in hospital.
The restaurant owner has been put in police custody. The investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
