TOKYO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday as investor sentiment was dented by the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar, which impacted exporter issues.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 22.19 points, or 0.11 percent, from Monday to 19,660.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 1.52 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,568.69.
Oil and coal product, mining and rubber product-related stocks declined the most in early trade.
