PARIS, May 28 (Xinhua) -- The 15th seed Petra Kvitova experienced an emotional victory after being sidelined for five months due to hand injury as she overcame Julia Boserup 6-3, 6-2 in women's singles first round on Sunday.

"I feel great about the win. This match is special to me," said Kvitova at the post-game press conference.

Kvitova recovered from her severe left hand injuries that she sustained in a home invasion last December, and just confirmed her participation in the draw on Friday.

Kvitova hit a total of 31 winners and possessed a dominating 9-0 advantage in aces.

Aside from the victory, Kvitova was also touched by fans' warm welcome to her comeback.

"It was nice and really heartwarming welcome in the Chatrier. It was a real pleasure to play in front of them and play how I played. I think I played well after six months off," said Kvitova, adding that she regarded herself as a winner already.

"The motivation that I had today was amazing, and I really didn't want to lose. It was a little bit more special to me today than any other matches," she said.
