TIRANA, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The European Union delegation in Albania launched Friday an EU-funded regional program on local democracy named ReLoaD, the delegation press office here informed.
The 10 million euros (11.2 million U.S. dollars) initiative will support ten municipalities in Albania, said Jan Rudolph, head of the Political Economic and Information Section of the EU Delegation in Tirana.
Brian J. Williams, UN Development Program (UNDP) resident representative in Albania, said civil society organizations will benefit from the grant to implement projects aimed at consolidating democracy and improving the quality of life of citizens.
The program will be implemented in six Western Balkan countries in all. UNDP is proving 1.5 million euros to the program that will last 35 months.
