ATHENS, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Greek main opposition conservative New Democracy party has widened the lead over ruling Radical Left SYRIZA party as most voters reject the new austerity measures promoted by the government in exchange of further aid by international lenders, a poll released on Friday showed.

In the first survey carried out after Greek MPs approved last week the new set of measures, about 76 percent of respondents said that they see the measures negative and counterproductive for efforts to restore economic growth.

Only 16 percent of participants in the poll conducted by Pulse polling firm for news portal Action24 viewed the measures positively.

Should general elections were conducted this weekend, the conservatives would win with 30 percent of votes against 17 percent for SYRIZA.

In a similar survey by Pulse in April, the margin was bigger by 1 percentage.

The third party to enter the parliament would be the far-right Chryssi Avghi (Golden Dawn) with 7 percent.

The socialists of the Democratic Alliance would follow with 6.5 percent of votes and the Greek Communist Party (KKE) would be the last party securing the needed threshold to enter the assembly, winning 6 percent.
