WASHINGTON, MAY 25 (Xinhua) -- Texas lawmakers approved the hunting of feral hogs and coyotes from hot air balloons on Wednesday.
Wild hogs have become a major nuisance for Texas as they ruin crops and root up gardens, resulting in millions of dollars' worth of damage every year. Lack of natural predators makes them breed rapidly.
The state has allowed the shooting of wild hogs from helicopters, something that has seen little success due to high costs and low efficiency.
The House Bill 3535 passed the Senate and is now on Texan Governor Greg Abbott's desk.
If the bill is signed into law, it would take effect in September.
