TOKYO, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as invested opted to lock in profits after the market's recent gains.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 47.63 points, or 0.24 percent, from Thursday to 19,765.50.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.23 points, or 0.27 percent, to 1,574.19.
Mining, machinery, and oil and coal product-related stocks comprised those that declined the most in early trade.
