TIANJIN, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Are you working the job you dreamed of as a child? Only 13 percent of workers in China say they are, according to a survey by Linkedin.

The survey of 1,000 Chinese professionals aged between 22 and 45 showed that more than 70 percent of people said they tried to pursue their childhood dream career, with only a minority succeeding.

The most popular childhood dream job for men was public servant, followed by scientist and police officer, while for women it was teacher, followed by medical personnel and artist.

Stable and reputable jobs in government and the schools are widely desired by both men and women in China.

The survey found 40 percent of respondents worked in a career related to their childhood dream, while nearly half worked in totally unrelated jobs.

For those who did not land their dream job, financial factors were the primary hurdle. More than half of respondents said they would not consider their dream career before earning enough money.
