TUNIS, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed declared on Wednesday an anti-corruption war across the country, a day after several Tunisian leading businessmen suspected of corruption were arrested.
"It is a single choice to take the war against corruption," he said in a brief statement to the reporters at the government headquarters in Tunis.
"The state will continue its war to the end. Tunisians are called more than ever to be united," Chahed added.
Several influential figures in the business world and a few officials in the public services including the Tunisian Customs, were arrested on Tuesday evening, local media reported, citing officials on condition of anonymity.
The arrests came under a state of emergency starting from November 2015, they said.
