Benin, Nigeria to optimize economic relations

COTONOU, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Benin's official Lazare Sehoueto is expected on Thursday in Abuja, Nigeria, to discuss optimization of economic ties.

Industry, Trade and Artscraft Minister, Lazare Sehoueto, will lead a delegation from Benin's Chamber of Industry and Trade to that effect, source close to the ministry on Wednesday said in the economic capital Cotonou.

This is part of initiative of Benin's government intended to strengthen diplomatic actions between the two countries.

During his visit, Lazare Sehoueto will attend a colloquium devoted to the development of trade exchanges in Nigeria through the discovery of economic opportunities to support sustainable development in the country.

Benin's delegation will seize the occasion to exhibit to Nigerian economic actors as well politic authorities business opportunities imbedded in the governmental action in Benin.

The cooperation between Benin and Nigeria has grown steadily since 1970. This is based on, notably, mutual assistance cooperation as well as political, economic, technical, scientific, security and cultural cooperation agreements.
