ABUJA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-five Nigerians arrived in Lagos on Wednesday following their deportation by British authorities over immigration-related offenses in that country.
Upon their arrival in Lagos, the deportees, comprising 30 males and five females, were received by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the police.
A police spokesman told Xinhua the deportees were profiled by the immigration authorities and were each given a stipend to facilitate their transportation to their respective states.
On March 31, British authorities had deported 23 Nigerians for committing similar offenses.
