Uganda's KCCA FC defeats Club Africain in Confederations Cup

KAMPALA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) has defeated Tunisia's Club Africain 2-1 in a Group A match of the Confederation of African Football Confederations Cup.

The Ugandan team was a goal down after 21 minutes but fought back to win in-front of their fans at the Philip Omondi Stadium.

After large spells of dominance by the Tunisian side, Mokhtar Belkhither gave the visitors the lead after a well taken Ahmed Khelil assist after 21 minutes.

The Uganda League champions fought back and leveled matters in the first minute of added time with a well taken Derrick Nsibambi strike.

The striker received a pass from defender Denis Okot and made not mistake firing past Club Africain goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha.

In the second half, KCCA FC looked more hungry attacking in numbers. Tom Matsiko made it 2-1 when he capitalised on a Geoffrey Sserunkuma cross.

KCCA FC continued to attack in numbers, but the Club Africain defenders stood firm.

The two teams made three changes each, but no more goals were scored.

"I am glad that after losing 3-0 away to FUS Rabat we are now back to winning ways," KCCA FC coach Mike Hillary Mutebi told Xinhua after the match.

He said the team will continue to work hard as they prepare to host Nigeria's Rivers United early next month.

Club Africain captain Saber Khalifa who was booked in the match said that they will go back to the drawing board for the next games.

KCCA FC will next host Nigeria's Rivers United on June 3.
