MANILA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Dutete said on Wednesday that he is mulling placing the Visayas region in the central Philippines under martial law after declaring Mindanao under martial law.
"I may decide to expand the area to include Visayas because it is a walking distance actually," Duterte told a news conference at the airport after cutting short his official visit to Russia.
He might also decide to suspend the writ of habeas corpus in the Visayas, the president said.
"Remember that this is not intended for the law-abiding citizens," Duterte said.
Visayas region are the group of island provinces in the central Philippines.
