OSLO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Norway on Tuesday condemned the suicide bomb attack that killed at least 22 people and injured 59 others at a music concert Monday night in Manchester, Britain.

"Norway condemns the terrorist attack in Manchester in the strongest possible terms. Our deepest sympathies go out to those who have been affected and their families," Minister of Foreign Affairs Borge Brende said in a statement.

"Once again, the UK and Europe have been struck by terrorism," Brende said. "It is the aim of terrorists to spread fear through cowardly acts such as this, but they must never be allowed to succeed."

He stressed that Norway stood together with Britain in the fight to end terrorism in Europe and around the world.

"Terrorist attacks are attacks on our common democratic values. The attack in Manchester is a reminder of the responsibility all countries have to prevent terrorism," Brende said.

Meanwhile, the attack in Manchester has not had any consequences for the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST)'s assessment of the threat situation in Norway, according to NTB news agency.

"When working with the threat, one works over a longer period. There is no change in our threat assessment at present," PST senior adviser Siv Alsen told NTB.
