NICOSIA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Cyprus is taking measures to beef up the "security level" following the attack in Manchester.

"Police are taking measures to increase the security level, especially as regards crucial infrastructure," Justice and Security Minister Ionas Nicolaou said Tuesday.

Nicolaou clarified that the authorities have no information about a serious threat for Cyprus, but added that preemptive measures are being taken.

On Monday night, a suicide terror attack took place at Manchester Arena at the end of a pop concert, killing at least 22 people and injuring 59 others.

An 8-year-old girl of Cypriot descent was among the dead in the attack.
