KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Three civilians were killed and four others wounded when a tractor ran over a roadside bomb in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar on Tuesday, a local official said.

"The blast occurred in Kalan Kaichi village, Maywand district roughly at 10:00 a.m. (local time). The killed and the injured were shifted to a hospital in the district, west of provincial capital Kandahar city," Samim Khpalwak, provincial governor spokesman, told Xinhua.

The official blamed enemies of peace and stability, a term referring to Taliban militant group for the attack.

Taliban uses Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to launch roadside bombing against security forces but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.

The Afghan army personnel found and defused 10 IEDs and landmines in parts of the country since early Monday, according to figures by the country's Defense Ministry.

Afghan civilians continue to bear the brunt of armed conflicts as 715 civilians were killed and over 1,460 others injured in conflict-related incidents across Afghanistan in the first three months of the year, according to figures released by the United Nations mission in the country.

On Friday, 11 civilians, including five children, were killed in a similar incident in eastern Logar province.
