CHICAGO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- An antique clock worth almost half million U.S. dollars was reported stolen from a Chicago show this weekend, which prompted an investigation by local police.

The jewel-encrusted antique clock valued at 425,000 U.S. dollars was missing Sunday afternoon from the Chicago Antiques Art Design Show, held at the landmark building of Merchandise Mart, local media reported Monday.

Chicago police, after examining surveillance video, said one man and two women approached a booth where the antique clock was at display. Two of them distracted employees while the other woman was suspected of stealing the clock.

A promotional video clip on the website of Chicago Tribune showed the 20th-century clock was decorated with diamonds and pearls. It claimed that the British-made clock was designed for the collection of the Sultan of Brunei.
