MADRID, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on Monday said he refused to hold another general election after Pedro Sanchez was voted as leader of the Spanish Socialist (PSOE) party in a primary on Sunday.

Sanchez represents the left and wanted to vote against Rajoy's investiture vote, which caused division within his party.

Rajoy on Monday stated he would not cause instability because he wants "stability and "common sense."

"Everything remains the same. We will talk with the PSOE and we will understand each other," he said.

Rajoy added that over the last six months of ruling the country, the government managed to pass some issues with the Socialists' support and others without it.
