Malaysia's foreign reserves up marginally to 97.3 bln USD

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's central bank Bank Negara said Monday that its international reserves amounted to 430.5 billion ringgit (97.3 billion U.S. dollars) as of May 15.

The international reserves of 97.3 billion U.S. dollars were 1.25 percent higher when compared with 96.1 billion U.S. dollars as at April 28, 2017.

The international reserves were consisted of 90.7 billion U.S. dollars in foreign currency reserves, 800 million U.S. dollars in International Monetary Fund (IMF) Reserves Position, 1.1 billion U.S. dollars in Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in gold and 3.1 billion U.S. dollars in other reserves assets.

Its reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.8 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt.
