GAZA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- A Hamas-run court in Gaza issued a death sentence Sunday morning against three Palestinians convicted for killing senior Hamas militant Mazen Fuqaha in March.
According to Xinhua reporter who attended the court session, two defendants, Ashraf Abu Leila and Hisham Aloul were sentenced to death by hanging, Abdullah Nashar, another defendant, was sentenced to death by shooting.
The court didn't say when the three will be executed, but said the court verdict is not for appeal.
Abu Leila used to be a Hamas militant, but was fired from the group for violating its rules and strategies, while Aloul is an ordinary Gaza citizen and the third worked as a former security officer.
In his confession, Abu Leila said the Israeli security intelligence asked him to kill Fuqaha.
Fuqaha was detained by Israel and released later to Gaza Strip.
