|NEW DELHI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on his re-election, a government spokesman said.
"Heartiest congratulations to my friend, President Hassan Rouhani on his re-election," an official statement quoted Modi as having said. "Iran will continue to achieve new heights under the dynamic leadership of President Hassan Rouhani."
Rouhani was re-elected as the president of Iran on Saturday. Rouhani has pledged to "remain true" to his promises.
"India remains committed to strengthening our special relationship with Iran," Modi said.
