THE HAGUE, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch national action committee for school pupils (Landelijk Actie Komite Scholieren, LAKS) was attacked by ransomware WannaCry on Thursday, but the problem was corrected by the end of Friday, the students' organization announced.
It was the second WannaCry victim in the Netherlands since the malware hit globally a week ago.
"We are struck by the same cyber attack that struck hospitals in the United Kingdom last week," said LAKS spokesperson, adding, "the fault was rectified at the end of Friday."
LAKS's exam complaint site was hit because the server of its system was affected by the ransomware. LAKS said it paid no ransom.
"Fortunately we have a backup of all the complaints about the school exams this year. They were put on another server this morning."
So far, only the parking company Q Park in the Netherlands reported infection by WannaCry ransomware, which attacked millions of computers in some 150 countries. The Dutch national cyber security council confirmed earlier this week that the Netherlands suffered little impact, but urged everyone to stay alert.
