PARIS, May 19 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron will on Wednesday discuss the state of emergency which has been imposed since the November 2015 Paris terror attacks, Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said on Friday.

In an interview with RTL radio, Collomb said emergency rules to empower police to thwart potential terrorist attacks "will be the subject of the next defense council" on Wednesday at the Elysee Palace.

"I think that at some point we will have to get out of this state of emergency. Is now the right time? Perhaps not just after the government's nomination," he said.

"We need to see what measures can be taken to deal with the high level of insecurity we have in face of the terrorist threat," he added.

Former French president Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency on Nov. 14, 2015 a day after the Paris attacks when gunmen stormed simultaneously restaurants, coffees shops, theatre hall and stadium in central Paris, killing 130 people.

Five extensions of the measure have taken place since.

Emergency rules, which give authorities extra power to conduct house arrests and raids without a judicial warrant, is set to expire on July 15.
