SUVA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Fiji's Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on Friday emphasized his country's commitment to addressing climate change, outlining the island nation's vision for COP23 in Bonn, Germany in November.

Addressing COP consultations in Bonn, Bainimarama said Fiji's vision was to advance the work of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and preserve the multilateral consensus for decisive action to address the underlying causes of climate change, respecting climate science.

Bainimarama said Fiji would also uphold and advance the Paris agreement, ensure progress on the implementation guidelines and undertake consultations together with the Moroccan presidency of COP22 to design the process for the Facilitative Dialogue in 2018, according to Fiji Broadcasting Corporation news website.

Bainimarama said he would also infuse COP23 with the Fijian "Bula Spirit" of inclusiveness, friendliness and solidarity and promote the Pacific concept of talanoa, or dialogue.

Meanwhile, a dedicated website to support Fiji's presidency of COP23 was also launched by Bainimarama.

He unveiled the website www.cop23.com.fj before representatives of about 200 countries attend UN climate talks in Bonn.

Bainimarama described the website as an important tool of Fiji's presidency, as well as its mission to explain the impact of climate change on the Fijian people and other Pacific Islanders.
