TALLINN, May 18 (Xinhua) -- A Beijing educational delegation of 16 universities and schools Thursday attracted about 100 local students and participants who want to know more about the education sector in the China's capital city.
The educational introduction event came as the first educational delegation sent abroad by the Beijing Municipal government after the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was successfully held in Beijing on May 14-15, said the event organizer.
The exhibition platforms were crowded with local students, arousing high interest in studying in Beijing.
Three school students in Tallinn told Xinhua that they are expecting to study in Chinese universities with scholarship or on self expense for the majors of science of chemical, business and philosophy.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Huang Kan, Deputy head of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, said that there were a total of 120,000 foreign students from 193 countries and regions studying at Beijing universities and schools in 2016, expecting the event to promote educational exchange and cooperation between China and Estonia to bring the two peoples closer.
Chinese Ambassador to Estonia Qu Zhe said that the cultural and educational exchange between the two countries is increasing, so is the interest of Estonian students to understand China, wishing a great success to the event to familiarize the participants with Beijing education.
Andres Pajula, head of Tallinn City Education Department of City Administration, welcomed the arrival of the delegation, hailing the educational introduction event as helpful for the local students to know more about China.
After Tallinn, the delegation was scheduled to visit Latvia and Lithuania.
