BANGKOK, May 18 (Xinhua) -- A rear-ended collision in central Thailand killed a pickup truck driver and four Cambodian workers on Wednesday, local media reported.

The crash happened at about 2 p.m. local time in Chachengsao province when a pickup truck carrying Cambodian workers collided into an 18-wheel truck, according to Daily News.

Local reports said the driver, 28, together with four Cambodian workers died at the scene. Three other Cambodian passengers including a two-year-old boy were seriously injured and hospitalized.

Initial investigations showed that the area where the accident occurred was hit by torrential rains.

The crash is under investigation.

Thailand's roads are currently ranked the second most lethal in the world after Libya's by the World Health Organization.

The government has made efforts to reduce fatalities on Thailand's notoriously dangerous roads, exhorting Thais not to speed, or drink and drive.
