ISTANBUL, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainians, not Russians, were among 18 people injured on Thursday when a midibus carrying tourists overturned on a highway in southwestern Turkey, a health official was quoted as saying by press reports.
"Our team on the scene first thought that the wounded people were Russians when they first heard them speaking in Russian," private Dogan news agency quoted Mugla Provincial Health Director Cihan Tekin as saying.
Of the wounded, three were in critical conditions, the official said, noting two Turks were injured as well in the accident.
The mishap occurred on a highway linking the provinces of Mugla and Denizli, as the midibus was carrying Ukrainian tourists from Mugla's resort town of Bodrum to Denizli's Pamukkale, a tourist hot spot famous for its travertine terraces.
The authorities cited heavy rain as the cause of the accident, the report said.
