CHICAGO, May 16 (Xinhua) -- An Amtrak train conductor was shot at the Metra station in Naperville, a town about 50 km west of Chicago, during rush hour on Tuesday afternoon, and the suspect has been in custody.
The conductor suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, a statement from Amtrak said.
The suspect, believed to be a man in his seventies, was inside the train when he shot the conductor through the window. Passengers immediately restrained the suspect for the police, local media reported.
The Amtrak train was carrying some 235 passengers from Los Angeles to Chicago when the shooting happened.
Police are investigating into the motive of the gunman.
