ABUJA, May 16 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people have been killed in a fresh communal conflict which broke out between local farmers and herdsmen in Nigeria's northeastern state of Taraba, a local chief said on Tuesday.
Scores of people were also injured in the crisis which broke out since Sunday, Zaki David-Gbaa, a local chief and head of the farmers' union, told Xinhua.
He said mostly farmers were killed in the conflict which has spread to at least five remote villages in the state's Bali district.
Local police said three dead bodies have so far been recovered due to the remoteness of the area.
Police spokesman David Misal told reporters that riot policemen had been deployed to restore normalcy in the areas affected.
