BEIRUT, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Central Bank (BDL) thwarted a cyber attack on its email system on Monday despite a temporary suspension of some of its online services, the Daily Star reported.
According to BDL's IT Chief Ali Nahle, the central bank's online and electronic functions were not affected, as the bank is well equipped to deal with unforeseen crises.
"Our security system is constantly upgraded and we have mobilized our resources to ensure the smooth operation of BDL and its daily work and transactions with other banks and financial institutions," he said.
Monday's attack on BDL was part of a current unprecedented global cyber attack, which "has caused Lebanon's Central Bank to cease its electronic services and transaction on Monday in prevention of any hack," the National News Agency reported.
